There is a great article in this month's Muzzle Blasts. The fellow dispels the myth that banking the powder away from the touch hole results in better ignition.
 
The whole banking away argument is silly.

If you're on a bench shooting targets, I can see banking away if that's what the shooter prefers doing.

But for hunting applications it's totally impractical.
 
Why do people keep letting facts get in the way.
Because facts, while interesting, should never be allowed to interfere with one's prejudices.

Actually, facts should be verified and should always be used to correct misinformation, misdirection and outright lies.

Give facts a chance.

@Larry Pletcher conducted these tests to determine the design of a good lock and how to get the best performance out of a flint lock.
