I happened to get a rifle that kind of brought back a few memories..Back in the 60`s I remember my Dad and a couple of my uncles were shooting the latest and greatest at that time the .47 cal target black powder rifle..I even managed to get a mold with the rifle in .465..Anyone else kind of remember this odd ball target rifle?I`m going to cast up some balls and see what she can do,,

Don't recall a .47 but I have a .48 made by Judge Resley in the 1950s. Bulky old 1 3/8" round barrel with an original Tower musket lock. Birds eye maple half stock with a cheek piece that looks like a side saddle. It will shoot, too. Best is a 49XX at 100.

Happened onto a .475 double cavity mold, too.

That gun has a Bill Large barrel. One of the most famous gun and barrel makers b 1907 d 1985 at Friendship/NMLRA. Bill was known for making barrels that he wanted and selling them to folks even if they ordered a different size. Most folks were just happy to finally get a barrel from him.

In the right circles that gun is worth a lot just for the W.M. Large stamp. It ought to be a shooter. Don't fresh it out unless it won't shoot. That barrel is a real treasure.
