I have a Jack Garner flint mountain rifle with a Dixie Gun Works lock; wonder if any of the modern locks are a replacement fit? It's probably an OK lock, but I read that the currently produced locks by L&R and Others, are pretty precise. I'll have to look into that!

Have you pulled the lock, inspected and oiled it yet. I usually do that with any lock. Then shoot it to decide if it's worth replacing it.
Good advice. I'm not saying it's not good, just that I'm intrigued with the quality of the new locks being made and marketed. You are right in that I need to work with it more; it's not been shot in a good while, but now I'm getting back to actually using the lovable darn things; Flintlocks! Thanks.
