I’m looking for any info on gun builder Craig witte or if anyone has a contact. I found a very nice custom .62 caliber rifled flintlock in a local shop. they apparently didn’t know what they had but it’s. Very high quality piece. I purchased it last evening and from what I can see it’s never been fired. full octagon barrel over a inch flat to flat very thick heavy stock with lots of carving. Sparks great very high quality lock and light trigger. The only markings are C WITTE NO 60 on the barrel. Any info much appreciated Thankyou

I don't know what you paid for that rifle, but I am thinking you got a good deal. It appears to be very well built. I like the carvings and general architecture of the stock. It appears to have radiused grooves in the barrel. Who made the barrel? Have you determined who made the lock? How does it spark?

I did get a great deal on it. It was an estate sale and they just had it marked flintlock muzzleloader no caliber or anything. It was unfired as well. Nice custom wood plug for the barrel. It definitely appears to be a jaeger Davis lock and either a colerain or rice jaeger barrel that’s been browned. Radius rifling 31 inch .62 caliber barrel. it sparks excellent and the trigger is very light. Appears the pan has been custom contoured with a tool to funnel the powder it’s unlike any I’ve seen. I put about 15 rounds thru it so far. Shoots to the sights at 50 yards with 80 grains ffg .018 patch and .600 ball. definitely seems to prefer a tighter ball/patch combo. it’s a very nice gun I can’t put it down or quit thinking about my luck in finding it. whoever the builder Craig witte is he’s very skilled.

Well he built at least 59 others if this is number 60 as the barrel says. Nice rifle try 80 grains of 3f. That's what I use in my .62 with 30 inch barrel.
