 A group from our organization went to a cannon school, and I was wondering about the plastic zip lock bags they showed how to use them. They put the charge in a zip lock bag, then surrounded them with Aluminum foil. Has anyone ever noticed or seen static electric sparks go off these plastic bags? I noticed they seem to cling to each other and wondered about this in our saftety class when handling blackpowder. :hmm:

There is paranoia when it comes to handling black powder, what would happen if there were a remote chance that you would get a static electricity spark from the plastic bag? the powder in the bag would just burn up. But I doubt very much if that could ever be the case.

Yeah I've wondered the same thing! Forget static,
forget the fact that the powder is preserved better... how do you kill a charge if you accidently double charged??? the bag stops water from killing the charge! I beleive it was the HMS Victory that had to be boarded by the bomb squad in boston when a salute missfired! There was no way to kill the charge and the whole cannon had to be craned out or something! Can you beleive that! Hms victory with all her guns and glory, and no one on board could do a darn thing, so they called the bomb squad! Talk about an embarrassment! I'm stickin with wax paper, It's water resistant but not proof. Just takes a little time to soak through.

WOW
