I use 450 grain powder charged on a regular basis. Recoil will knock you back a few feet but it is not painful and I have never gotten a bruised shoulder.500 grain powder charge gets to be a bit much.It's really not that bad, it's a bit like walking up to Mike Tyson and asking him to punch you in the face, it's not for everyone but some of us enjoy it
