A while back there was a thread on "fuzz in the bores". Thinking in my case it was NOT looking at rigs for a long time while in storage.
Outside gets looked at, wiped down but no bore cleaning after a while.
I had issues with "fuzz" after long time storage, thinking 6/7 + years after firing, WD treatment to drive out any moisture after cleaning with hot soapy water, being well oiled and put away.
Funny thing is, no issues with my center fire rigs. Cleaned, well oiled and put away.
Could be that the bolts can be held open or removed for a straight shot from muzzle to chamber,
where with a muzzleloader you're dealing with a blind hole.

Just had a friend finish a flintlock fowler build for me and he mentioned seeing "fuzz" in the bore. He honed it to clean out the fuzz.
Don't think/remember ever thinking about the bore as I was starting the build but him mentioning the "fuzz" made me think about general BP cleaning.
Thinking it had more to do with the time in storage and NOT the cleaning process. All get picked up, looked over, wiped down and put away. All stored in the same room in their own cases and no issues for the center fire compared to the BP guns. And NO exterior rust ever.
More cleaning and bore inspection required. ;)
