You hear a lot of stuff that will work but when you begin to work on your own stuff you find that each gun is unique to itself and that they all will have a bit of variance as to what makes them most happy and what gives then indigestion.
Do some experimenting on what length your gun likes best and then learn to grind or knapp your flints to that configuration.
Some times the cock or frizzen will need worked on to get the best compromise but first work on the flint length and bevel position. That will usually take care of most ignition trouble.
Watch for how smooth the cock stroke functions and where the spark shower is hitting the pan.
These will both be effected by flint length.
My thought is you want the spark shower to be directed to the pan center and not getting indirect sparks after they bounced around the pan area a bit before finally landing on some powder.
