Here it always depend on where they are feeding just the same has woodcock and golden plover Their meat is dark and very gamey and stronger if feeding on sewerage ground. The only complain that I had was for the dressing of them although only small the small feathers for me was a problem some scold them with hot water to remove the feathers and also you needed at least 3 on your plate for a mealNice shooting Tx!!!!! We don't have snipe around these parts. I'm curious as to how they taste?

Excellent day's bag!Snipe finally showed up with the cold weather. Made it out for a few , the 12 bore is cylinder bore in both barrels and is probably my favorite upland gun. Headed out in the am for another round.
I used to love hunting woodcock with my percussion SXS,
I don't see nearly as many as I used to but still a few around. Pretty soon there wont be any woods for them, just parking lots and yards.I haven't seen a woodcock in over 5 years. I used to flush one or 2 every 2nd or 3rd hunt but no more. They must have gone the way of the quail.
Woodcock are specialists, and so are very particular about their habitat. Ground that attracts them for a few years at some point won't anymore unless properly managed to keep the little birds coming back.I haven't seen a woodcock in over 5 years. I used to flush one or 2 every 2nd or 3rd hunt but no more. They must have gone the way of the quail.
