Lehigh Barn Rifle or Schimmel in 54 caliber.
Light and handy with a swamped 38" barrel, 1.05" at breech, .773 waist and .980 at the muzzle. Barrel is left in the white, visible file lines run its length, and a bit of color around the sights. My "twist-o-meter" rotates about 2/3 around in the barrel length, so my estimate is this is a 1:54-ish and, with 6 lands and grooves, I believe this to be a Colerain barrel. Bore is bright and shiny.
As a true basic rifle, this gun only has a trigger guard and 2 plain thimbles. There is no butt plate, toe guard or other hardware. The forestock flares near the muzzle, enhancing the dramatic shape of the barrel. Stock is a nice piece of maple, with some visible figure, stained to a darker color. There are a couple handling marks below the cheek rest and along the bottom of the buttstock. The toe and butt, however, show no marks. Inletting is quite good but not perfect, and there is a small repair behind the tang. Ramrod is tapered, with a tapered steel end, threaded 8-32 for accessories. The wide end of the ramrod is concave, which helps cradle the top of a round ball -although the rod looks barely used.
Lock appears to be a chambers/siler, tripped by a relatively light single trigger. The lock has also been left in the white.
Overall length 54 inches, 13 3/4 LOP. The gun is well-balanced and slender, hard to believe it weighs 7 pounds.
Asking $1400 shipped in the US. Money order or personal check preferred. PM for details.
