I cut down two of the cheap $10 Indian made flap holsters I had laying around to make Walker holsters. I figured it would be a period correct "frontier modification "
The cartridge box holds a small flask with a 50gr spout, caps , 18 balls and a tin full of Crisco. Mainly just for fun, it's not like I wear this walking around.
Chambers filled with 50 grains of Old Eynsford 1F
Topped off with Crisco
A little hinge top jar makes a handy Crisco jar
2 filthy Walkers....I brought a box of 100 Hornady .454 balls , and left with 0. I went through most of the pound of 1F, shooting 50 grain charges burns a lot of powder
I shot at a paced out 45 yards, I'll call it 40 just to make it even. They still hit high, I aimed at the waist, at the red Q , just having fun.
When I rested my arms on a chair , I did see something resembling a group.
1F did well, even going up to 60gr, never once had the levers drop.
The Crisco kept them running, I loaded and fired each Walker 7 times , with a few extra rounds through the one. Only after the last cylinders of the day did the hammers get "sticky". I never broke them down to clean them.
1F worked well, good smoke, good boom, recoil was a rolling shove. Accuracy was as good as I could hold.
Which is good because I bought 25lb of Goex 1F last year so I might as well start burning it
I fired the 100th ball at about 3 feet , just to "finish" the paper bad guy and the paper was peppered with powder that blew out of the muzzle. Probably unburned powder grains. Oh well, I'm staying at 50 grains . I remember seeing this in other revolvers when I used 3f .
