Looking for some knowledge about this 1871 BSA percussion musket, it’s for sale not too far from me and my research turns up nothing. I thought that by 1871 that all of the BSA’s left had been converted to center fire weapons such as the Snyder conversions. Since there are no barrel bands on this gun is it not a former military firearm? Is it possibly a shotgun? Any idea what it’s worth? I have not seen it up close, only the pictures I’ve posted here since it’s about 2 hours away from me. Thanks for any info, it’s got me baffled….

Is it assembled from random parts / brought back from Afghanistan? Two screws in tang..? Lock plate (possibly from a Snider) does not fit well in stock, nor hammer align well with nipple, ram rod does not look right for bore or fit on stock…
