Historic Jefferson College (HJC)

We've got a lot of great things planned for 2013! In addition to our regular events (Ladies Academy, Big Yam Potatoes Fiddle Contest, summer camps, lectures, Saturday EXPLORE! programs and Civil War reenactment), we're going to have a real treat in April:

During the weekend of April 12-14, the grounds of HJC will be crowded with frontier living history demonstrators AND War of 1812 reenactors, who will portray General Andrew Jackson's march up the Natchez Trace in 1813. The living history folks will show off skills and crafts necessary for survival in the frontier of Mississippi (c. 1750-1830), including knife throwing, knitting, gunsmithing, Dutch oven cooking, dancing, engraving and much more! They, along with the 1812 soldiers, will be camped out on the grounds Friday-Sunday, and will be available to answer questions and show off their wares and equipment.

For more information about the march, go to www.cottonbaler.com, homepage of the 7th United States Infantry Living History Association.
