My first time working on a lock kit from castings. Any advice would be appreciated. Using kit revensheer’s books as a guide.

First thing, I ground off the casting gates and have filed up some of the parts.

Regretably the pan is casted to the plate, so I bought two plates hoping to convert it, however I think I’m going to hold off on that initially. I have pans for a 1795 musket which are almost an exact match, however I’d have to make the pan bolster arm shorter which isn’t technically historically correct. The 1763 Charleville pan bolster arm is much longer. So for now I’ll leave it as is.

Worked firstly on fitting the frizzen to the pan, used Dycem to get a nice fit.

The plate is slightttly warped in the forward end, I’ll have to bang that out.

My first thought of this lock kit is the plate seems very thin for the screws at 8/32 and some of the screws seem delicate, especially the tumbler screw which I have a feeling if I bottom out the tumbler will snap off at the head.

The sear has a mark on it which is depressed, I’m thinking this is from the original trigger.

Rest of the Rifle Shoppe kit is MIA, stock and barrel I won’t get until late 2022.
