Show me your "CHUNK" for NMLRA.

That's how it used to be. Just a log laid out to shoot from. BUT, as in most things men involve themselves in , it soon turns into "arms race" or gizmo collection.

Show me your "CHUNK" for NMLRA.

A picture from the Alvin York shoot showing a bunch of chunks.

Show me your "CHUNK" for NMLRA.

A chunk can be as simple or complex as your skills will allow. Should be adjustable up and down. Some just stack boards or plywood pcs. This one belongs to Colton, and is nice. Most will be some variation of this . Does not have to be this nice but folks like to impress. LOL.

Show me your "CHUNK" for NMLRA.

First is the .45 flint log gun. Built for a friend who passed away and I was able to buy it. 28# gun. 2nd is my 54 flintlock. 14# . We have a match here that is restricted to 14 # max guns so this one is a single use gun.

2 of mine. Both .54 cal. one a underhammer the other a mule ear lock. One weighs 26.5 lbs and the other 28 lbs. Both barrels 48" long. I'll try to scare up pics of my flint log guns.

    Smoothbore Use

I have four smoothbores from 12 ga down to 28ga. The 28ga is a NW Trade Gun and I built it with a heavy barrel to shoot roundball in competition. Typically a match will be 5-6 shots with ball and 3 birds thrown from a trap. That's all the roundball shooting I do with one, the rest are all for...

    Middlesex Double Barrel

This whole subject is giving me a headache. I'd love for everyone to shoot a flintlock like I do and welcome all to try one. BUT, this started out as a dodge to get around taking a test .Why one could get an exemption just by using a flintlock boggles the mind. As if they are not "real" guns...

    Middlesex Double Barrel

Amen. Your first gun should not be what is arguably the hardest gun there is to build. But to each his own

    Middlesex Double Barrel

Knee jerk reaction from people who have never used the gun ? Really ? Several , myself included , who had/have first hand knowledge replied back to you.You don't have to take any of our advice, but please don't poo poo our knowledge on this. If you want the darn thing, buy it. I feel like my...

    Middlesex Double Barrel

OK, I'll wade in on this against better judgement. I have a friend that has one of those doubles. The locks are JUNK. I can't say it any other way. He had to buy two Silers and pay someone to fit them to the gun. That'll add about another $500 to the gun. Here's my view, coming from someone who...

    Friendship pictures

Correct Ricky. Most of us are too damn old to put up a lodge anymore and the other tents follow "Eastern" which is what the majority do. I'd imagine out West at Rendezvous you see a lot of lodges.Remember "Western Chuck " ?Even he went Eastern. :surrender:

    Friendship Spring Shoot pictures

You boys done well Ben.I'm grooming my grandson, Jackson, to give you boys a run for your money. But on the other hand by the time he is old enough to compete with you two, you'll be in the next age division.Good shoot, good time.

    Lead pot

My old Lee bottom pour (30 years old) has probably poured close to 10,000 rounds over the years. Yes, you have to clean them out now and then but for the money it has served me well. I just ordered a new one and gave the old one to a newbie at the club.

    gun stock blanks

You don't cut blanks from green wood. You cut the tree into slabs (I'd go about 2 & 1/2 to 3 " here) and dry them. You only cut the blanks once the wood is dry. If you want to sell wood for guns you are about 4 years away from selling anything. You "sticker" the slabs, ie: stack them with strips...

    Red Oak Stain

Depends on the wood. You can get away with that on Walnut. It's already dark, and the oil in the Minwax just darkens it a bit. If you try it on maple, you are going to be one unhappy camper, and after that, not much else will fix it.

Where do i ship a muzzleloader?

from the USPS “A nonlicensee may mail a shotgun or rifle to a resident of his or her own state or to a licensee in any state. Handguns are not mailable. A common or contract carrier must be used to ship a handgun. A nonlicensee may not transfer any firearm to a nonlicensed resident of another...

Where do i ship a muzzleloader?

Where modern firearms are concerned, a reciever is considered a firearm and all laws apply. ie: FFL required. Just because the Postmaster said so does not change the law.Ask him to represent you in court and see how far that goes.

Where do i ship a muzzleloader?

Why would one feel the need to make up some goofy name or misleading name to send a legal product, through a legal conveyance ? Yep, make up some name and then if it gets broke in shipping , you don't think that would not muddy the waters when trying to get some payment ?. Why hide it ? It's a...
