My lady likes to tease me about it but I think it would be cool to have a picture of the two of us done this way, anyone ever done it before? curious to see how it turned out.

I have wanted to try daguerreotypes for so long, and I might try it in the next year or two. About 20 years ago I found a club on line that did them, but I can't find anything now. Of course that was back when Google was a search engine and not an ad server.

After trying some different search terms to get around the ebay/amazon/etsy spam (Yeah, Amazon is going to have daguerrotype cameras:doh:) I found some artists who still do them. Here is a site of someone who still does them and sells equipment, but it is a little too pricy for me.

I think it's a great idea.
She should be happy you want to do something like this with her at all. Many husband hate posing for any type of photos, they do it to make her happy.
If you have a dog, go get one done with the dog.
If you don't have a dog,,,,,,, get one.

Mrs Coot & I had a tintype done of the two of us. This was possibly 30 years ago at the Smithsonian in DC where they had a special exhibit on early photography. They even had costumes that you could wear for the picture. The tintype now hangs on our family photos wall - we have become our own ancestors!

Yes,
Gruene, Tx, about 30 yrs ago.
The photo set was a western bar circa mid 1870’s. I was a cowboy with a Colt’s single action army in my waistband, she was a dancehall girl.
We like it.

Me and my daughter did a tin type in Gettysburg. Got dressed up as a Confederate soldier and she did a nice lady's outfit. It was a fun time and the photo turned out great. We were able to watch the whole process of the tin plate being immersed in the chemicals and watching the image appear. I say go do it.
