Tail end of winter storm, headed out to the range/camp today and rang some steel. 19F so a little tough on the fingers but got a half dozen shots off anyway. Did a little trekking as well, no bear tracks this time around, lots of deer and a few elk tracks too.

Great outfit great time and a great place. I am green with envy. Unfortunately I don’t live anywhere near where I would have the freedom to do that. Enjoy and thanks for sharing the excellent photo and experience!

You guys south of hear can keep that whit stuff there I don’t like shoveling snow thankyou .Was gonna go to my little shop and work on a horn I started to redo but got side tracked with a shovel geez can’t wait till spring so I can shoot up some paper and experiment on some patterns .

I've been working on a little side project. I’d like to see it end up as a ‘canoe’ length flintlock slug gun, but I gotta find someone to build it!

I cut most of the chamber end off. Then opened up what was left to 13/16”, which is hole size for a 7/8” tap.

Waiting on some tailstock pieces for the lathe and a 7/8-14 tap set to thread the breech. I don't think the Brown Bess breechplug I had on hand is going to work, so I ordered a straight tang plug from Pecatonica today.

Chonky .729” rifled bore with a 1:36 twist. I haven't measured since I've done all the cutting but I think its going to be ~21"-22" long

I finished stitching the decorations on the front of the presentation bag. The bag itself is still a bit wet frm getting a shaping. A buckle should be along shortly and then the strap and flap will be stitched. Only showing the backside of the is shown because the front must remain shrouded in secrecy. 😉

So, my bench is suffering from serious clutter as a result of many quick passes to accomplish a number of small projects. Then the retreat into the house to avoid the cold. I went out to straighten it up but before I could start a call came from a grandson who needed a ride. Maybe tomorrow. 😀

Welded three new target stands today and also rigged two more targets for hanging from chain and cable between trees. Got them all set out. Have 5 left to do to complete 20 metal clangers of various shapes, sizes and materials. Also worked on a few spots that needed brush and saplings cleared out to make the trail easier to follow along the ridge. I’m gonna try and do a video of part of it, or at the very least, a series of photos. Weather is looking good for most of this week.

My aim is to have a course that isn’t terribly hard to complete with a decent score.
