People have also cursed other muzzleloading supply stores. TOTW anybody? Insert your pet peeve. I have been to DGW, and they are almost entirely mail order. They have to balance the number of employees in order to make a profit, just like all their competitors. During the pandemic, many businesses were forced to close. They had a hard time getting new stock. If anyone thinks they have a fool-proof way of running a small business, have 100% satisfied customers, please start this business, and force everyone else to close their doors.
If you are not too uppity, I suggest going there in person to look at all the antique guns Turner acquired. As long as your there, you might as well look at his antique cars, too!

Similar here, but I put my order in on a Saturday, so it took a bit longer. The delay turned out to be the fault of USPS, not DGW.

A couple months ago they were running 4-5 work days before creating a label and shipping the following day.
But what was a couple months ago? The holidays.

Last couple orders I placed they got out within two days like usual.
And I just placed one today I am hoping they do the same.

I think the length you wait is directly affected by how it is shipped, say UPS vs USPS, and if it doesn't move until a day or two before a weekend. Where UPS's delivery time is at a disadvantage having to wait until Monday usually. Although UPS did make a couple deliveries recently on a Saturday that were not over-nighted or anything. Not sure what was up with that, but it was unexpected and appreciated.

Obvious it's hard and will get worse ,want a job? I don't but that is an answer heard round the country
(the new normal) and that's for lower pay than some get for staying home . I just stay home and make stuff to shoot rather than complain about (didn't see that coming) And I was an employer for 46yrs and worked 7 days a week and am glad I don't have a payroll to meet in todays labor market/ Ed

Neither of my Sons can find new employees for the their businesses. And these are professional positions, they’ve had numerous ones not show up for a scheduled interview, and several that said they would let them know the next day and they never heard one word. My oldest Son is an architect and has been advertising job openings on University campuses. He told me he received a resume from someone at Tulane a week or so ago and the first sentence after the name was that he (it) used they/them pronouns. Just think about that, sickening.

I have a similar problem on forums that the posters rely heavily on acronyms.
If I see an acronym in the first sentence, or even the subject line, I move on. Life is too short to try to hunt up what they are talking about. Or if it was a typo. Which I'm much more forgiving of.

I'm old school that way. If there's one thing I remember from English class it is to never use a pronoun or acronym without first using the proper name/noun.

DGW has really done well with shipping now. Orders I've made lately have all shipped on the next working day. They are the best place to deal with now. Always have been nice folks and always ship good stuff.

you would be surprised. first you have to find people who know which side of the tape to put on the box.

I recently phoned a cast bullet company and inquired about specifics of what I wanted to buy. I asked about delivery time. The lady explained they were having a hard time finding reliable employees. She said they have the orders and supplies but short on manpower saying people were not willing to work. I have heard this from several shop owners in my area. Then you have young men and women standing on street corners begging for money when there are jobs to be filled. I don’t get it.
Shipping companies are also running slow. I had a FedEx order sitting at the Ocala distribution center for 5 days. Just recently another order sat at a USPS distribution center for 3 days. This adds to the order travel time so both orders were in shipping mode for near or over a week each.

Amen to that brother. My point with a young lady looking in her mid 20s, well dressed at a busy intersection holding a sign “Hungry, need money for food”. The zinger is about a block away there are several businesses with “Hiring Now” signs!

This thread started nearly two years ago. I have had very good service from DGW over the past year. I did see a note on their website that they will be closed March 11, 2023 due to a staffing shortage.

Seems to have become a thing on Corporate email signatures these days.

I added "Does NOT suffer Fools Gladly" to my signature on my corporate email account. So far, no one has complained. They probably don't get it.

The sad thing about the trope of “they should just get a job” is, would you hire them?

I think we get spoiled by the fast service from Amazon or whatever. Us muzzleloaders should be a little more patient at times! I even see US Postal Service, FedEx, Amazon, etc., in my suburban area on Sundays and all hours of the day. Your turn around time was great!

That is true around here. "Hiring" and "Help Wanted" signs on businesses, on their trucks, even on the advertising place mats at the diner.

My local small Post Office old-timers say the quality of the new hires is not what it used to be; not as much work ethic or loyalty to the employer; I guess people are more cynical nowadays.
