    Would this be safe?

In search of a bargain I found Hornady #000 .350DIA Buckshot in a 5 lb bag. I know these are not pure lead but would they be safe to shoot in my .36 cal rifle. By my calculations they would be roughly $1.77/100. Thanks.

    Lead exposure

I am new to BP and was wondering about the risk of lead exposure. Only information I found on the web were the two extremes, the shooting sports are all a huge toxic exposure and envirmentally unsound or wash your hands and all is safe. Anyone ever had their lead level checked. Thanks.. TLD.

    Shooting technique

Thanks for all the great advice. To be honest, I have never tried controlled breathing and I had never heard about stopping squeezing the trigger when you are off target. I was glad to here that everyone jiggles on target. I think the longbow has improve my marksmanship. I am much more...

    Shooting technique

After reading Harpman's last post on tunig his GPR I began to wonder about my shooting technique. For the past several years I have been heavily involved in traditional archery and went 25 years without shooting a gun. I did shoot quite a bit when I was young but was self taught. I recently...

    Optimal target ball size

What would you consider the optimal caliber round ball for accuracy at 100 yards (or maybe its all the marksman)? It only needs to go through paper so KE is not an issue. Thanks. TLD.

    Small caliber rifle

I would consider the H&A .36 underhammer. I am a newbie so I don't have anything to compare it to but it exceeded my accuracy expectations. Union Creek TLD

    Shooting a RH rifle LH

Thanks for all the advice. I don't have any gun in mind. I just like to shop and the majority of used guns are RH. I never thought of the side by side shotgun arguement but it is an excellent point.

    Shooting a RH rifle LH

I am right handed but left eye dominant (the corrected vision in my right eye is very poor) and I have always shot a gun and a bow left handed. Frustrated by the lack of low priced LH rifles, I was thinking of buying a RH rifle and shooting it LH. I know I can have a custom LH gun made, but...

    Breech plug embarassment

Thanks for the advice and consolation. The book I read had very few "pearls". I will check out your recs. I can't believe I didn't think of pouring water down the barrel. It was stuck about 3/4 down so I con't think shooting it out would have been an option.

    Breech plug embarassment

Roundball: A definative source would be greatly appreciated. The rod got stuck trying to pass a dry patch. This was recommended by one book and while another source I read said "never pass a dry cleaning patch". I have had 2 experienced people on this post tell me to leave the breech plug...

    Breech plug embarassment

Voyageur: I am not sure I understand. Is it dangerous or just inconvenientnot to be unable to remove the breech plug? TLD.

    Breech plug embarassment

I have been a traditional archer for a number of years and having an in-line rifle would be like owning a compound bow, if you know what I mean:). I have a H&A 0.36 cal underhammer rifle. I needed an inexpensive gun that I can shoot left handed and I purchased it before I learned that no real...

    Breech plug embarassment

Without going into the embarrassing details my ram rod got stuck with a cleaning patch at the range this weekend. When I got home I decided to take off the barrel and remove the breech plug and push it through. When I removed the barrel, what apeared to be the breech plug (I am new to the...

    Round v. Square Patch

Thanks again for all the replies. In reading past posts, saliva seems to be a contraversial subject. Has anyone ever "bench tested" lubes for accuracy? Tld
