Ok, the method that worked is number 3, took the powder out as best I could after removing the nipple, then tried to used a screw (not very good at hitting the middle it seems) then took a number 1 easy out, reversed it and pushed the ball and felt pad out. Did not fire

Today I took my 58 Remington by Navy Arms out and fired it for the first time, (by me, it is a used gun) it fired 5 or 6, the cap went on the last one but no joy, I recapped the cylinder and fired again. Still no joy, the caps went as they should but it failed to set the main charge off. What...

    Difference in Hawken vs Kentruckey

Ok I admit I know a lot about modern military arms (at least those in America) but I am not well versed in antique arms from the 18 hundreds. So what is the difference between a Hawken 50 caliber kit and a Kentucky 50 caliber kit, say from Dixie or one of the other major suppliers. I am new to...

I am a new member from SW Idaho.

Thanks for the help, I've been a shooter here in Idaho for a long time but the only club I belong to is the Idaho Automatic Weapons collectors We don't shoot much in the way of BP and I'm now trying to get into a new to me style. My brother has two BP rifles and I'm hoping to be shooting with...

I am a new member from SW Idaho.

Do we have a percussion weapons group in the Nampa, Caldwell Kuna area?, I am interested in joining to find out more about these weapons and how to use them. I especially would like to know of a gunsmith who can work on these rifles and pistols. I have a .40 caliber rifle I would like to...

I have an old Dixie Gun Works Rifle

The ramrod appears to be the original unit for this rifle. It is 39.75 inches long, I do not have any attachments, no puller, no rammer no cleaning eye. The original has what appears to be a very small maybe number 6 x 32 thread tip that has a short metal tip with groovers cut around it but I...

Well your idea is a good one, I am not so sure that the old joke, "what's 20 lawyers at the bottom of a well?, a good start." isn't still funny when you know the lawyer but what the hey.. So I joined up too. Thanks. Larry

I found this set at a small gun shop, What is it? a factory set or a special issue? Or???

Thank you for your service, I started in the Oregon N.G. in Sept 63 and got out of the Regular Army in May 72, then did another 3 years in the Idaho Guard. A friend of mine's daughter is currently serving in the Coast Guard but I am unsure of exactly where at the moment, she was on the west...

Thank you for your input, I'm beginning to think I actually did something right for once, Hey you know, maybe me and a civilian clock have something in common. When were you in the Coast Guard?
