"Unstuck" a stuck ramrod, for the first time. Trickled some powder into the drum. Worked like a charm.

Made a range rod from two 36" aluminum shotgun cleaning rods. It breaks down in 12" increments so I can use it for anything from a Kentucky pistol to a Kentucky long rifle!

A friend bought a wheellock kit that was started and abandoned. I took the lock repaired the mistakes, finished the build (lock) and ignited powder. He had assumed he was going to gut the wheellock and do a flintlock conversion. Needless to say he was thrilled to have a functioning wheellock instead

I’m right next door to you in NY. 45 is the minimum in NY too. I think NY & NJ have a contest going for which state is more screwed up! I’ll be using my Woodsrunner for deer!

Dawn water 50/50 as lube was absolutely amazing!!!!
This combo is money for the gun after I made a slight right to left adjustment on the rear site. Just needed to do my part better.
Started at 50 gr and was all over the place. Dropped to 45gr and actually grouping 3-5" shooting offhand which is actually impressive for me being it was my 3rd time shooting.
Ready for next month.

Some 50 yd off hand work with the Frontier .50. Not my best target but it was windy. Got ‘em all in the black anyhow.

Working on this kit I bought from ole rust super nice kit and a great lock the only real problem area is where the brass and wood meet at the front there is a gap on one side so I'm going to use a piece of micarta or faux ivory to fill it the holes that were threaded in the bottom of the barrel were not in line and not gapped properly but otherwise I'm very happy with it !

ever have a day when building is just not in your skill set?
actually my fun started a couple days ago when i opened a package with a new old stock Haddaway. got so thrilled i lost all sense and full cocked it to check functionality. mainspring reminded me that one is supposed to use their brain once in a while. shattered like glass. superglued the pieces together to get accurate measurements and started looking for something to make a replacement. still looking.
shifted to my half stock cherry build. went to the lock drawer and decided to use Bob Roller 80. stripped it down and of course the tiniest fly ever used in a lock went skittering out of the bowl somehow and onto the rubber mat on the garage floor. the mat that i had cut some aluminum angle the other day, and not cleaned up all those wonderful little chunks that look like they could be a fly from the best lock in the drawer.
having been reminded that i should once in a while use my two active brain cells, i got a clean magnet and believe it or not, found the fly! and another one i had lost from a siler and had built one to replace!
gave up on building for today and worked on sights on the Darwin build i finished(??) last week.
after 5 shots a foot low even after filing close to 1/4 inch off the iron front sight, i replaced it with a german silver one a little wider .
could pick it up with my old eyes and at 60yrds .535 balls over .008 spit patch , 90g ffg homebrew kept them on a pie plate.
Nap time then cleaning the Darwin.

Actually yesterday I got the energy to make a flat spring for the front trigger for the old 70s era Northstar double set triggers my dad had lost when he was building this rifle back then. The piece of steel I found in my gun junk drawer cut easily with tin snips but I had a devil of a time drilling a hole in it. The spring worked fine and the project was a success. I now need a 3-48x3/8" machine screw for the trigger adjustment.
Today I applied a coat of tung oil to that same rifle. I gave it the linseed oil/purple Scotchbrite treatment to bring out some highlights and that dulled the finish some.

It's beautiful. I'd recommend just leaving it. You'll be the only one who notices.

Man that's a tough call the rest came out so nice thanks for the compliment !
I still have some more sanding and brass clean up to be honest the brass was a lot of work just getting this far it was a lot of filing !!
