No one has yet to suggest this method but it just might work. Remove the nipple (liner in a flintlock) and hold the rifle upside down. Start slapping the rifle breech to get as much of the powder out as possible. Measure the amount that does come out so you'll know how much, if any, powder is left in the breech. When it gets down to no more than about 10-15 grains left in the rifle re-install the nipple and fire. point the gun at something that won't damage the rod pieces.

I thought about that, but didn't want to be the first to suggest it.

Yep do a search for stuck ball. A million answers. Easiest way is to remove your nipple and trickle at least 5-10 grains of power into the barrel. Use a wire to force it in there and tap the gun until you get a little power in the barrel. Put the nipple back on and shoot it out. That little amount of powder will not hurt your barrel if the ball isn’t fully seated. You’ll find a dozen different ways that will be way more difficult.

CAUTION !! Already stated 120 grn of 2F in the barrel !!!!! My take , remove nipple , Fill barrel with NON-FlAMMABLE licquid , store "barrel down" overnight , placing muzzle in a pan to cover for any leakage . Next day , powder should be soaked , evidenced by licquid coming out of barrel muzzle !! NOW ! add powder as needed to move stuck ball out of barrel !!! Good Luck !!

Had several occasions when I was starting out with muzzleloaders where I got a ball stuck part way down the barrel (t/c Hawken) and remember one was about a foot down the barrel. In all cases had 100 grains of FF loaded and a large gap between powder and ball. Just pointed the barrel up and pulled the trigger. No damage done and barrel still like new, still shooting it 30 years later.
On a slightly different note got a bullet stuck half way down a Ruger American a year or so ago. Filled barrel with black powder and also filled a primed case and fired the obstruction out. Barrel is good as new.

I recomend you start by putting in some alcohol/hydrogen peroxide through the nipple hole to "wet" and try to lube the stuck ball, then go with either the grease gun or air compresser.

I've dealt with stuck balls before by myself fine but never like this. As I've said my range rod end is broken off in the barrel so there is no pulling it out.

I'm concerned about shooting it out as the patch worm is sitting on the rifling and I don't want to tear my bore to pieces.

That is why I'm here, needing a gentle way to remove it when I can't push it back in and am scared to shoot it out.

I might tip some water and oil down the nipple hole, let it soak and try to air compressor it out.

yes goodrabbit, we are being jack asses. i think the reason is "there but for the grace of God, go I".
also with us being a half a world apart we can only give the same old tired suggestions as we can't all gather around your bore and say "boy, you sure up screwed this time"! which i have had older and supposedly wiser mentors say to me in the past. i learned not to bare my arse to them when i did "up screw" . i really do hope you have the best of luck.

Go the grease gun way, believe me it works, but make sure that you oil the obstructions from the muzzle end as well; just to be on the safe side as regards steel bits against your rifling and, as has been suggested, push the grease back out the nipple hole, minimum mess.

To get the patch worm out could a length of stiff wire folded into a “U” and pushed down to hook onto the remains of the patch worm to free it and lift it out?

Looking at the photo in post #1. To me it looks like I can see the threaded end of the ball puller.
Maybe a few threads are exposed enough to partially screw on another ramrod to pull on.

The grease gun will be the gentlest method to remove the stuck articles.
