Anyone have thoughts on nickel plating the bore to help prevent corrosion? I don't want to chrome plate because the process is generally more hazardous than nickel electroplate.

I'm still trying to figure out how to suspend the nickel electrode in the center of the bore without shorting. And If I solve that problem I'm not sure if I should plate the bore, might be different if the breech plug were removed and I could plate all the parts before assembly.

Hmmm... Maybe this nickel was a mistake. At least I did it on cheap kit. I'll have to do more study on chrome plating to find something less hazardous to use.

Thankfully only the outside is nickel right now, and I can mechanically remove it if things go really bad.

Yeah, Investarms has been doing it for decades and may still offer the process for some of their guns.
Guess what? I doesn't matter, if you don't clean it,, the bore will still rot,,
Been there, Done that.

If you do, don’t use Hoppe’s #9, it will eat it up…I still grieve for a S&W M&P in 32-20 that once had a lovely nickel finish.

What other products can I safely use on nickel, Balistol bothers my lungs so I switched to Hoppes #9 a while ago. I have some Lucas branded oil for the after cleaning rust prevention.
