I’m a bit curious how one gets a bare ball to stay on the charge. Seems it would need to be the same diameter.
Speaking only from my experience: I have found that I have needed to change my entire thinking process when shooting my smoothbore. Instead of shooting a rifle without the twists, a smooth rifle if you will without a raised back sight, I am shooting a shotgun with a slug load. So if I am shooting a shotgun, I should load it like a shotgun.

I have a 20 ga gun. So the load is 2¼ dr. 2fg powder, over powder wad, cushion wad, a .610 ball, and last an over shot wad, usually tow. But it could also be a Circle Fly thin wad, too.

Thanks for all the replies and sorry for my late reply! I have been swamped from a tornado that nailed our community... Anyhow, I didn't get this gun in the end, however, I am making a custom order instead from TVM in two days. VERY excited!
