    Pietta or Uberti 1858 Remington

I love the Uberti 1858 in 36 caliber... mild recoil and superbly accurate.

    Interesting Cannon video

Hmm.... for some reason that link comes up with "Helicopters", a far cry from cannon.

    RCBS Pro-Melt

Great find at an awesome price. I bought mine at a pawn shop for $75.00 around 18 years ago... best $75.00 that I've ever spent. Tens of thousands bullets and ball cast since then. ------------------------------------------- A day without sunshine is like...... night.

    2f or 3f

I use 3F in everything including my 75 cal Brown Bess. Burns cleaner and just seems more consistent.

    Remington or CCI #11 caps

The CCI #11's work best for me but I go to Remington for a #10.

Where did all the powder go?

Order it by the case... 25 pounds right to your door.

    new Uberti 1860

Instead of going with a heavier load, use cornmeal or Cream of Wheat between powder and ball.

FFF vs. FF in a .54

I use triple F in everything including my 75 caliber Brown Bess. The only thing I have that doesn't use triple F is a 1 3/4" bore half-scale Napoleon cannon.... I use GOEX "Cannon" in it.

Making Lube: Double Boiler vs. Microwave

I go through a lot of pure beeswax making candles... nuking it in a Pyrex measuring cup works fine for me.

    Looking for a 1841 1/2 scale barrel

Hern Iron Works should have what you are looking for.

    Wow! Unbelievable Prices!

When it comes to C&B revolvers I have always preferred the ones from Uberti... especially their 1858 Remington in 36 caliber. To these old eyes it just seems a cut above the rest. Couldn't give me a brass framed one.

    hand cast ball accuracy?

I've been casting my own ball for going on 40 years now. Always used either Lyman or RCBS molds as I just don't like the aluminum ones. I prefer 4 cavity molds when I can find them as I sell a lot of round ball at the local rondezvous events.

    bullets for old army

Never could get any conical to seat straight in the chamber... they always wanted to go in at some angle. Round ball has never failed me though.

    Shooting range at Rondy safety

One school of thought is that if there is any doubt then it isn't safe.

    Worst Pistols

I'll have to go along with Jacob Neumann on this one... that Palmento flint pocket pistol is indeed a POS. Couldn't hit a 2 liter soda bottle at 4 feet with it... that is if I could get to to fire at all.

    black powder can spout

Same idea here except that I solder in a 22 Hornet case... a fiddle tuning peg makes a very nice stopper too.
  17. B

    Sacrilege or not?

I make up paper cartridges for my Brown Bess and absolutely love them. Also make paper ones for my 1861 Springfield repro although using the plastic tube cartridges are a lot more convenient. Everything else is powder measure, patch and ball.

    HELP!!! Cannon Class Problems

Not having a rammer would make it a bit difficult to get a foil wrapped powder charge down to the breech end of a cannon barrel.

    How to cut wads

bought a set of good (US made) punches on flea-bay a while back... never regretted that purchase.
