Whats the name of this company?

I know there is a American company that makes civil war repo's but can't for the life of me remember what their name/address is. :cursing:
I am in the market for a new 1861 springfield, but want one that is American made.

James River modifies Italian repros by correctly contouring the wood, restamping and/or modifying the metal, and replacing the barrels with American made Hoyt barrels. I prefer to think of these arms as second generation Italian immigrants :rotf: For all intents and purposes these arms are American, but the immediate ancestry is still foreign.

I've got one of the James River 2 bands and absolutely love it. If you want a full custom, American made copy of an original that incorporates original parts, try Tom Nixon.

John Zimmerman used to make reproduction Civil War Rifle Muskets. Try Googling his name.

I don't know of an American company, other than Shiloh (Sharps rifles and carbines)or Romano (Maynard carbines), that makes CW-era guns, and neither of those makes what you want. The mass market pretty much belongs to two Euro firms and one Japanese outfit -- which, BTW, does generally good work.

There are several individual riflesmiths, however, who will assemble barrels American-made by Whitacre or Hoyt, wood by Dunlap or Jencso, and parts from wherever they may be found to craft excellent-shooting individual replicas. But those run from $1600 to $2000. If that's not too rich for your blood, let me know and I'll put you in touch with a few of them.

According to his web-site, Zimmerman will make a custom repro using American parts. Costs more and takes longer but that is to be expected.
