Hi,Iam ready to make a groove that runs below the patchbox.I want to search for info on it,but I dont know what its called.thanks, squib

In my vocabulary it's called a lower buttstock molding. An upper buttstock molding, usually an incised line running alongside both sides of the comb, can be found on some southern guns...Fred

Lower buttstock molding. It can be anything from a single insized line to a cove and bead like the most complex forestock molding.
