Tumplines, Burden straps what ever you want to call them. Can be made in a variety of different ways.; Not just using basswood, hemp woven into one. Here are acouple made in different ways.
First is a all leather one.
Then there is one made from brain tanned elk and hemp rope. Which works just as well
You see my kettle on the blanket this is how it is carried.( Sorry them thumbnail should have been the 2nd. pic.)
Also what would be in the blanket role is 2 spare mocs., peas, alittle tea, two spare shirts, stocking cap and extra socks. Meat and most other items would be carried in a game bag.
I also carry something most don't a fire chain. Saves on rope weighs nothing and takes up very little space. Its very easy to make.
