I had this bird at 25 yards in the woods ,but there was to much buck brush between the bird and me . He strutted out of sight into an open pasture ,he would not come back to me so I crawled out to the edge of the woods and could see that he had hens and another tom with him . I just sat down and started to call and the hens came running straight at me closely followed by the tom's, my heart was about to jump out of my chest, at about 30 yards I aimed at the head of the lead tom and only heard a dull thud ,I switched to the left hand barrel and it took him cleanly . I have been hunting these birds for over thirty years and I still get pumped when they are close . Tom
