Thumbing through a magazine while getting an oil change. It said in the mag that Gary Cooper carried the very same rifle in this movie that John Wayne did in "Allegheny Uprising" and then again in the "Alamo". I think it also listed Charleton Heston or Fred McMurray carrying it in "Far Horizons". I could possibly be mistaken but that's what I think it said.

Well, yes, it does.... :dunno:
I just don't wear it enough to look like it's been through some campaigns.
And I've served on cannon crews, too, but I guess I just don't get too dirty.
I can still hear my Mom telling me, "Don't get dirty!"

But Hollywood has no excuse!
In new movies nowadays, I marvel at the authenticity of the dirty clothes... :ghostly:

I've recreated the leather frock Gary wore in that film a couple of times the Mrs. did the bead work for the cape, they didn't last long on the trade blanket.
