Thompson Center .54 Renegade in "hunted with" condition. Metal surfaces show scattered freckling and small patches of light rust on 27" barrel. Finish loss around muzzle, maybe from ATV use. Bore has uniform light frosting. See photo. Wood is in good condition with small bumps, scratches and paint(?) from rubbing against another surface. Good, solid hunting rifle $300 SHIPPED!.

BSR,

Does the “frosting” affect accuracy to any noticeable degree? Is it something that can be cleaned away?

Thanks,

‘Poet
I have several antique rifles that I shoot, both muzzleloaders and cartridge, with worse pitting and they shoot fine. I recently posted an Ardesa rifle with a heavier frost and posted pics of a test target with respectable group, especially for my eyes. If it wasn't raining here, I would take it out and shoot a test.

I read someplace that shooting a hollowbase bullet with some polishing media in grease grooves smooths out rough spots. Then you just have to keep on top of the cleaning. I have not tried this myownself.
