Bought a 40 Cal. SMR , from a retired gun builder. The rifle was built in 2005, but was never sold. GM barrel, Siler Mountain Lock, Davis Triggers. Build from a blank piece of wood.

Thanks...I could have had it switched over to flintlock, for $100. more. I'd rather had a flintlock, but I didn't want it messed with. A lot of people looked at the rifle, over the years, but he had flintlocks available, so they all bought flintlocks. This was the last one he had, so he gave me the 2005 price, as well.

That's a beautiful SMR and it just begs to hit the woods. Replacement locks will take care of the flint situation in case you ever entertain the thought of a conversion.

Thanks to all.

Now, I need to get a good turkey load before spring gobbler. Shotguns are usually the gun of choice, but here in Va. the .40 is legal and still a challenge.
