I just watched Soloman Kane. Were those wheellocks that he was using? Supposed to be set in the 1600s.

Just looked some photos up on the web. I guess they used real Wheel Locks in the movie.

Not an easy movie to find in the US. They did a pretty good job on the authenticity which I think made the fantasy elements work that much better.

Soloman Kane? You mean the Robert E. Howard character? When did they make a movie featuring him? He was always one of my favorites.

It has been released overseas for some time now: http://www.conan.com/invboard/ About the only way to see it is to find a pirated copy since no US distributor seems to willing to pick up this rather religious movie. Like most movies, the books are better but it is still pretty good.

Solomon Kane is one of my favorite characters too. REH referred to a lot of adventures that he never wrote unfortunately.

I have reread all of the original Solomon Kane stories and the author keeps to referring to his pistols as flintlocks as opposed to wheellocks (or Miguilettes) which would have been around in the late 1500s. Howard probably just had no way of knowing the details of early firelocks.
