Not sure where this should go, but what is the safest way to slug a bore in a ML? (Assuming the breech plug can't be pulled.)

I would clean the barrel. then carve a short piece of dowl to work as a ramrod and stick it a couple inches in the muzzle with a patch to seal the bore. then pour lead in and let cool. this is very similar to how a lead lap is made for the barrel.

put a length of brass rod [ as large as possible] and about a foot long in the barrel, next oil the bore well and tap in a ball a little larger than the grooves then 'hammer' the ball out with the brass rod in the bore by turning barrel up and down or use a good ball puller

Ive done this using a piece of tape wrapped steel. Used old lead fishing weights with hole thru the middle. Piece of cake.

If your rifle has an equal number of lands and grooves, just measure it with dial calipers.
