I put the new spring in the gun and it seemed to fix the problem of the sear not fully seating in the notch with the lock outside of the gun. When I put it in the gun, It would cock and stay cocked at least but I could still get it to fail with a push from the thumb. After thinking this thing through, I blacked the metal parts and placed it back in the mortise. It was hitting no where at all. Then I started thinking about the trigger as suggested by Grenadier1758. I know that the set screw wasn't the problem cause it would do this with it backed all the way out so I shimmed the trigger assembly out of the mortise with a small stainless washer. Bingo!! It seems that it may have been set too deep and was interfering with the sear arm just a tiny bit. Everything is fine now. It cocks and stays cocked with me even trying to get it to fail. I guess I could omit the washer and file on the trigger arm a bit but I am gonna leave well enough alone!! I took a mighty long trip around but got it fixed in the end with help from here so thanks to every one that has offered suggestions to get this thing going, I do appreciate it! Now to get back to shootin it
