Revolver Identification

Hey Guys,
I have two revolvers I’m trying to get more info on. They are both in wooden cases but the cases are larger than the boxes for the guns, so I don’t know if they are original or aftermarket. The SN on the guns match the boxes. Any idea what I’ve got and the value for each. Going to consign at my local gun shop.

1st appears to be a Navy Arms Remington NMA in .44 cal. With case and accessories probably 3-350? (today's market shortage values)

2nd appears to be an FIE-imported brass 1851 Navy. They (FIE) have been out of business for some time. With case and accessories, maybe 2-250?

I could dial it in a whole lot better but can't make out any of the markings/numbers in your pix. Showing close-ups of the markings or listing them in writing would be a big help.

Do either show signs of being fired?

OK, I can see the date code on the Navy...AA, which is 1975.

Look for a maker's mark on the barrel flats under the loading lever. Like DGG (Armi San Paolo) ASM or San Marco (Armi San Marco) or others.

Fess, I agree with @Woody Morgan ; you'll get a lot more selling them here and they will go to someone who will really appreciate them.

Check your State's laws. Note that most states and the ATF do not consider these "firearms," so they can be sold without going through a dealer and can be legally shipped from your door to the buyer's.

But check your local laws! Some states regulate them as if they were fullysemiautomaticweaponsofshoulderthingthatgoesuphighcpacitywareekdeathdeathdeath unmentionables.

The way the market is running right now I would not be hesitant to ask $400 for each since they are boxed sets.

I continue to be amazed at what some of my fellow muzzleloaders are willing to pay for revolvers these days -- not infrequently *more* for a used, or LNIB, revolver, than they would pay for a NIB example from one of the many (although admittedly sometimes obscure) online shops.

But the true value of a gun isn't what anyone says it should be -- rather, it's what that one buyer you find is willing to pay, and more power to 'em (both buyer and seller!).

I recently sold a similar steel-frame 1858 through this forum for $300 -- used in excellent shape, but without the wood case and accessories as you have.

Your examples could *easily* fetch $400 and $350, respectively, and if mine, and I wanted them gone, that's where I'd price 'em (in no hurry? up the price to $500 and $400, respectively). I suspect they won't last more than 3 days at $400/$350.
