I wanted to do the same thing with mine, but after some research I came to the conclusion that I would be better off financially to buy a good used rifle of the caliber I desired. I just couldn't justify spending more for a barrel than I did for the new rifle.
I bought good used custom rifle in .45, I am still looking for a good .36...
