Recently returning to muzzleloading and seeing some of the older ASM and Lyman pistols out on the market.
‘I was wondering what the quality of these guns are compared to todays Piettas, Uberti and Taylors.
i know some of the historical design are off. Just saw a 1860 Army by lyman with a nickeled trigger housing and case hardened frame.

I have a Uberti 1858 that I purchased used from a friend in 1970 that is still going strong. It is in excellent shape. Smooth action and much better than the newer 1858 models from either Uberti or Pietta which I have both of.

My 80’s ASM Walker is very nicely fit and finished. The Pietta 1860 Sheriff I just bought not as much but it should work fine.
I have an ASM .36 Navy with the silver plate TG. Had one of their 1860 Armies, but traded it off as I had others. Both seemed fine quality, mfg. late '80's. or early '90's.
