I'm going to buy a 5/8 single line checkering tool to carve some lines in my new Colonial kit. To those who have used them for this purpose, which do you prefer? In my head I think I could pull a straighter line than push one. But I'm wondering if visually pushing would give better results. I built a Chambers gun in 2006 and carved all the lines. Researching online it appears a lot of people are using the checkering tool for this. Thanks in advance for any opinions.

MY checkering tools only cut in one direction but I can reverse the cutter but I only push never pull
