Friends, our 2nd Amendment rights are always under attack and the NRA has been a constant for decades in helping fight that fight.
We have partnered with the NRA to offer you a discount on membership and Muzzleloading Forum gets a small percentage too of each membership, so you are supporting both the NRA and us.
I have one. It is capable of taking squirrels at 15/20 yrds with # 7 1/2 shot. With PRB's it will hit a torso sized target at 20/25 yrds fairly consistant. 10/15 yrds it would be deadly.
.600 ball, and a ticking patch. 50, to 60 gr fffg. For the shot, I fill a 60 gr powder measure. Over powder card, cushion wad, over shot card. 50 to 60 gr fffg.
Goodlooking pistol. For those of us who want to know...Give us more info please. Favors a Dragoon but which one? Please excuse ignorance. GrampaJ in NC
That is a MVTC British Heavy Dragoon, extensively re-worked. Inside and out. Here are a couple more shots of it. Did you notice the turtle. I didn't until I had finished taking the shots. I added a front sight which has been cut down some since the photos were taken
Thanks...Your courtesy is deeply appreciated. I was guessing a MVTC English Dragoon and you confirmed it. :hatsoff: GrampaJ in NC ... Appreciated your bashful turtle too.
I have one of their heavy Germanic cavalry pistols which is .20 gauge. The accuracy I've found is the same as you are describing. I can push it out a bit fartther with a PRB if I really want to. I normally use a 60 or 70 FFFG load. All in all a great gun but the thing is HUGE.
