Nice stuff. I wish I could collect them but unfortunately way beyond’s my means. I have some pocket pistols but they are quite plain or ordinary compared to those.
Sam, earlwb, I suspect you don't have your priorities aligned correctly. You're probably throwing your money away on unimportant stuff like putting food on the table, educating the kids, that sort of stuff. You need to focus

Those definitely are beautiful. Unfortunately there is a fine line between Needs and Wants. Me, I Need to eat. I don’t Want to get smacked in the head with a cast iron frying…ever.

I don't have that problem at all, my wife knows I don't spend more than a couple of hundred dollars on a pistol. Only thing is...... I'll need to sell 'em before I fall off the perch, or someone is going to get very lucky.

A very beautiful brace of pistols! How old are they? They look to be newly manufactured.
They date to around 1816. Presentation pistols like these were more of a status symbol than a defence weapon. This pistol dates to about 1792.

Thanks Loja man. Commissioned by Napoleon and given to General Josè de la Serna, First Count of the Andes and Last Viceroy to Peru. Made by Nicholas-Nöel Boutet in about 1804. All mounts are silver. Do you want more antique pistol porn?
A pair of gold and silver-mounted Ottoman horse pistols. Decorative ramrods on the pistols. The Ottoman wore the real ramrod (Suma) on a lanyard round their neck so as not to drop it when riding.

I've collected similar quality pistols & rifles over the past 60+ years but only kept the ones in excellent condition that showed honest surface wear from period use & still remain in same condition after my use & care..
Mint condition specimens get sold to collectors or museums for display only.
Below is a .70 cal. rifled French officers pistol I shoot.
Took photo without the steel ramrod.
