I came into possession of these two old guys and can't find much to identify them. Can anyone here help? The rifle has "P.S." then it is worn off and says "Warranted" can't find any marking on the shotgun.

I have tried to find info on the web, but there is not much that is helpful. I clearly need the help of experts that really know what they're talk about. So, I bring this mystery to this community of subject matter experts. Please let me know what you think.

Your half stock was made by Henry Withey in the mid 1800’s. Google will get you information on that. Your shotgun appears to be a typical db made by Moore and Co. from the same period.

If you wish to sell these, be aware that some collectors want guns in untouched attic condition.

That is what I had read, reference Sam's post. I do not intend to sell them. I absolutely LOVE history and these will be wall guns.

My great (many times over) uncle fought for the North and was killed at the battle of Stones River when he served in the 6th Ohio Infantry Regiment under (at thr time) Lt. Colonial Nicholas Anderson. Anderson was later brevetted to Major General for his conduct and bravery at Stones River. I also has a great (many time over) grandfather that was a minister in Lancaster, PA in the early 1770s. When the Revolutionary War broke he could not pick up the rifle due to his oath to the cloth. So, he helped in any other way he could and made his mark by organizing a group and leading them to run past the picket lines to take food and blankets to Washington's troops at Valley Forge. For this my family has been recognized as Sons of the American Revolution.

I have always wanted to put a copy of "The prayer at Valley Forge" and a replica of the 6th Ohio flag on the wall, framed by a couple rifles. I was hoping the learn these were rifles that might have been used in the war; but it sounds like they are from before. I may restore them and use them anyway.

That is a whole lot of non-muzzleloading info for anyone reading; but like I said, I LOVE history.
