I have read several posts where leaving clearance in the slot for wedges to allow for the wood expand and contracting. With pins not wedges should this be done. Drill for the pins then remove barrel and make the pin holes XXX size bigger in the lug. Leaving the pin snug in the wood? Is it a good thing to do for the same reason as the wedges. Thanks

You would do that with pins same as wedges.
And for the same reasons. Wedges tend to get more clearance than pins. Wedges are intended to be removable, pins aren't supposed to be constantly in and out.

You want pins to retain the barrel in the barrel channel wuth no up/down slop, but need a little clearance for the wood to move. Just a very slight oblonging of the hole is all that's needed with pins.

NO. You do NOT make the pin holes in the lug bigger. You elongate them parallel to barrel, creating a slot, maybe a 1/16” to 3/32” in each direction. The width of the slot is the same as the diameter of the pin hole.
