I have a Pedersoli percision double barrel shotgun, it's used, but in new condition, however when I pull the left hammer back all the way, it slips back to the half cock position. I took the lock out of the gun, and when I work it by hand it stays in the full cock position. When the lock was out of the gun I put Tetra grease on all the moving parts, but when I re-installed the lock into the gun it still will not stay in full cock position, it still slips back to half cock?? I would greatly appriciate any advice.
Thanks Guys,
Paul

It sounds like you have some wood in the mortice causing the problem. Take the lock out and put some marking material, inletting black, lipstick, on the interior lock parts and put it back in the gun. Work the lock a few times and pull the lock again. There should be marks in the mortice where the parts are rubbing. Scrape those down and repeat until the lock will stay at full cock in the gun.

 or the trigger is a bit too high

I agree with Roy.Smoke or black the sear arm of lock, to see if it is hiting it. Dilly

I had this problem with a custom flint pistol. My brother figured out the that the trigger was
too high and pushed the sear up so that the sear would not fully engage the full cock notch of the tumbler. We filed down the back of the trigger so that the sear would completely engage in the tumbler notch, go slow and replace the trigger assembly and try out the lock. If you send me your phone number I will talk you through or answer any questions that you may have, I have free minutes.
Good luck.

I have a Pedersoli Kodiak double rifle in 58 cal. Somehow, the left sear was bent down at the rear where the trigger makes contact. It wouldn't stay cocked. I never figured out how it got that way but I bent the sear arm up a little and no more problem. Look at the lock from the rear, see if the sear looks square.

The sear arm does sound like a good place to look but if you decide to bend it, go real easy.

In fact, if it were mine, I would only bend it as a last chance option.
Why?

The sear in a well made lock is hardened and often the factory will harden the whole thing.
In this hardened condition, the part if very brittle and will break if it is bent.

Before bending the arm (if that is what is needed), test it with a file. If it is easily filed (in the area of the arm) then go ahead and bend it. If it won't file, consider grinding off the underside, or the top of the trigger blade to give it the clearance it needs to permit the sear to engage the tumbler correctly.

Hi again. Mine was fairly soft and bent easily. I still can't figure out how it got bent down. It was straight when I got it. I can see it getting bent up due to pulling the trigger hard while on half cock or not pulling the trigger down and out of the way during installation. But how could it get bent down?
