Roundball, I often wonder why some patches are brown, some white and some black. Any ideas?
Probably a number of considerations...the fire side is darker than ball side of course...then there's brand of powder, granulation size, size of powder charge, amount of fouling from one shot, how clean the bore is kept between shots, what type of lube, the amount of lube, etc, etc, etc

OK..now I have to try and find Hoppes No9 BP cleaner and lube locally. I would prefer not to have to order it online...you end up paying more for shipping then the cost of a single item.

OK..went out today and tried the same load as before but upped the patch to .015 pre-lubed with close to the same results on the targets, but the patches held up much better. http://nepaoutdoors.com/shooting.htm

Next time out I am going to try the .018 patches and see what happens.

I have been using "balisoil" mixed 5 to 1 with water leave beside the wood stove all night( water evaperation) and shoot dosent freeze if water is evaperated. It cleanse the barrel and nuetralies the corosive bp at the same time. Dave T.
