My brother gave this old knife to me,and I wanted to share it with you folks,it has cambridge cutleryworks sheffield stamped on it,the blade is 8 1/4 long, and the o.a.l. is 13 1/4.I would like any info on this piece,I am guessing the time period to be from 1840- 1860,but I really don't have any info on the company that made it.buy the way he bought at a yard sale for one dollar!!!!!!!

Doesn't say England? Then pre-1898.

That maker is known with "England" marks, so they are late 19th c.

marked Cambridge/Cutlery Works/Sheffield. Reverse marked England. Faint etching on blade.

"Works" starts showing up commonly in names in the 1850's.

Cambridge could be for Cambridge Street, Sheffield.

Ok OK ya drive a hard bargain.....I'll give you two bucks for it :yakyak:

Sears sold knives like these in the 1890's for $0.75 :shocked2:

I think ya paid too much. :haha:

This one is c. 1900 (the shiny one)
