Worst gun control laws of all 50 states, for starters. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. I don't think political discussions are allowed so I won't go there. And let's not forget 40-50 murders every weekend in the city proper.
Hmm, just looked it up on Wiki. They are quite severe aren't they? Even BP stuff is more regulated than here in France.

Welcome. I’m from southern Illinois. Beautiful down here and great people.
I would like to add something to my post.
I made the comment that I escaped Hellinois 39 years ago.
After reading your post, I realized that, yes Illinois is Beautiful and there are Great People there.
My best memories are as a child, of my father taking us all over Illinois, camping, fishing, mushroom hunting, and seeing different towns, and the good folks that lived there.
It was sad to see what happened and is happening in my home town. Late 70s early 80s the life was being sucked out of it.
It more of work and the governing bodies that I moved. City,County, and State regulations and control.
I just wanted to say this.
I do miss the beauty of Illinois and it's Great People.
Fred.
