I converted this old wooden ammo box into a Range/shooting box.I first cut the lid to fit, not an exact fit, but close enough. I used a walnut wood stain for color ( lid only)The ammo box retains it's original color... I used thick leather straps for the hinge and clasp.. and I added the brass eagle as an ornamental piece. I am now working on a handle for it.I hate to drill holes in the box..but I may have to for the handle..my idea is to have one solid handle..making it with (2) 2x4's and (1) 3/4 diameter dow rod. the 2x4's will go on the outside of the box and act as arms, they will be connected with a bolt that will allow them to swivel..the dow rod will run across the top and connect the 2x4's. The idea is to allow the handle to swivel out of the way of the lid.I will need to work on the 2x4's as to make them not look so 2x4ish..
What do you guys think so far??

S.kenton - That looks like a very nice muzzleloading box: functional and rustic

THANKS GUYS! I worked pretty hard on this project, but it fell together easily and was more of pleasure to do than work. TRENCH; I really don't know anything about the history behind the box, other than it says " five hundred- low brass Grand Prix -field loads" then it says "Cleveland"..I hope I didn't mess up and ruin a valuable antique.I gave 10$ for it at a garage sale.
I have a VERY nice Remington Black powder Shot Shell box in red and green lettering..that one was my Grandpas and will not be made into ANYTHING..lol
Thanks for your kind comments!
