Mexican Copper cannon balls.

Battlefield Detectives gives this very interesting and new view of the battle of Palo Alto as revealed by archeological evidence. Big surprise was the use of copper cannon balls along with copper grape and canister by the Mexican's.

They had lots of copper, but no iron foundries they bought most supplies from The UK. Even their musket balls were cast copper

Poisonous? Absolutely. They killed or severely injured everyone they hit!

Verdigri can be poisonous but infection rate was high.
Huston survived his copper ball hit, but he was too tough to let an ounce of copper do him in.
