Reading the reviews it's hit and miss. However, it was with Lyman too.

If you can spend the extra money. The Pedersoli Lyman sells now is a much better gun. The Rocky Mountain Hawken is sweet. Pricey though.

The Lyman Great Plains used to be the gold standard for entry muzzleloader
LOL,, then there was the CVA MR and the T/C Hawken/Renegade, then the,,,,,,,,
and all of the versions of the said above since,,,,,,
Then there was a pandemic in 2019 that shut down factory's globally..
Honestly, I never cared for the Lyman GPR, doesn't fit me.
So what are ya after? New or used?
What makes you want to be brand specific?

A few months ago I bought a Lyman .50 cal Trade Rifle from TOTW, it was made in 2023 by Investarms. I was under the impression Lyman wasn’t making in the blackpowder business anymore, but somebody posted that TOTW had new guns and I bought one, very happy

Lyman hasn't sold a new BP rifle made by Investarms for a couple years. They switched to Pedersoli and re-labeled the line Signature Series in 2019 or 2020. Last year they dropped the rifles altogether. Someone else posted above that they called them and confirmed no more gun sales and there are numerous other threads on here about the topic.

If you did get a newly manufactured Lyman made by Investarms that will raise some questions.

I agree with everything you said, my last Lyman before this one was a .54 Deerstalker I bought in 2003. About two years ago I decided I wanted another Lyman but .50 cal, my research said Lyman had stopped, but a few months ago on this forum someone was asking about a .50 Hawken style rifle recommendation and wi
while reading the thread somebody recommended going to Track of the Wolf and they had new Lyman .50 cal Trade Rifles, I immediately jumped over there and bought one. I was surprised and see the pictures. It raised questions for me.

From a Phone call 3 days ago to Lyman. Lyman is certainly not producing any more black power guns from Italy or anywhere else. The available parts stock that they have will be depleted and not replaced. End of Story. My Deer Stalker I brought in 2020 has a 2019 Investarms date.

Well I'll be. I has questions. That clearly says made in Italy 2023. Lyman kept pretty closed mouth about the whole thing. Wonder if that was part of a contract fulfillment? They did say everything would be sold off, maybe they sold the trademark to Track? Def grasping at straws.

Thankfully I have a complete NOS investarms lock that will keep it going into old age.
